The Network was founded in October of 2009 with the original intent of bringing together young, Black educators with the support of the Black Educators Association of Manitoba. Interest from educators belonging to other cultural backgrounds quickly expanded the vision of the Network. EOCN is an independent grassroots organization that seeks to increase and support diversity in education by providing learning and networking opportunities to all educators, regardless of background. We look to school divisions and other organizations for modest financial support and for in kind donations in the form of space to host our events. There is no formal membership process or fees associated with participating in the Network. Simply email us to be added to our contact list and you are a member! ALL with an interest in working towards more culturally inclusive school environments are welcome to attend. We are based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Our leadership team is comprised of Michelle Jean-Paul (founder), Sherry Jones, Cynthia Remedios and Jason Pinder. All four are local educators.
